Another Via Rail payphone. Brockville, Ontario this time. Although the TV's closed captioning is switched on, the volume is turned up so the phone may not be entirely useful. (Mamiya 7ii, 50mm f4.5, Kodak TriX)
After many failed attempts to photograph this payphone from trains, I made my way to the Via Rail station in Smiths Falls, Ontario. The out of focus signal lights are for Canadian Pacific's crossing over Via's tracks and sometimes cause delays. (Shen Hao FCL-810 AC, 240mmf5.6 NikkorW, Kodak TXP 320)
November sky in Point Pelee National Park, Essex County, Ontario. It is a spit of sandy land into Lake Erie. Its tip, which is renewed and removed by storms, is the southernmost point in mainland Canada--there are islands further out. (Hasselblad SWC, 38mm f4.5 Zeiss Biogon, Fuji 400H)
Croydon Avenue, Ottawa. I've only come across one other black Bell Canada phone booth, it's in another part of the city. But I'm sure there are more lingering out there. (Leica M5, 35mm f2 Summicron Canada made and designed v2, Fuji Acros 100)
Now to Gatineau, Quebec for a payphone. This dépanneur, apparently nameless, is near the Gatineau River which presumably accounts for its heavy promotion of "VERS". Or maybe the dep itself is called VERS. (Leica M5, 35mm f1.4 Summilux ASPH v1, Fuji Acros 100II)
The recently installed booths at the Dairy Freez (sic) in Barry's Bay, Ontario (Leica M5, 35mm f1.4 Summilux, Fuji Acros 100 II)
More payphones from Toronto's subway: a comparatively quiet corner of Union Station, the busiest stop served by a single line. It connects to the intercity and regional passenger train station and a bus depot. These phones were reinstalled during relatively recent renovations so maybe there's hope.
The Queen Elizabeth Driveway, Ottawa earlier this month. Continued above-freezing temperatures and rain have reduced this snow to a few black, icy bits. A number of cars passed during the long exposure but left only a faint trace. Pano, you may need to click. (FujiGX617, 105mmf8 Fujinon, Acros 100)
The Fundy Ocean Research Centre for Energy, a tidal power research facility. Parrsboro, Nova Scotia. Pano, you may need to click to see full image. (Fuji GX617, 105mm f8 Fujinon, Fuji 400H)
Toronto's subway system, particularly the original portion, offers a rich harvest of payphones. This dimly lit cluster is in the Eglinton station which was once the end of the line. Now it's not even close. It's under renovation to access a new LRT line so this gang of phones is near its end.
