My column about apps on Mastodon appears in print today. I'm told it did very well on the web after publishing on Friday. It got MANY boosts and Favorites here on Mastodon (thank you!), so I assume that's where a lot of traffic came from. It'll be very interesting to see what kind of print-reader feedback I get via email.

This is a gift link to the story, so it should get at least some of you past the paywall if you don't have a subscription. If not, use archive.ph.

I'm considering moving to my other Mastodon account @iamkimiam

Is there anything I should know before I do this?

Would it be better to simply leave this one dormant and put a note in my profile here (like what I'm currently doing with the other account)?

What's the current norms around this these days?

As Deutsche Welle reports, today, on International Holocaust Remembrance Day, the German parliament for the first time focuses on the LGBTQ victims of the Nazi regime.

Some 6 million Jews, thousands of LGBTQ people, minorities like the Roma and Sinti, and physically and mentally challenged people were imprisoned and murdered during the Holocaust.

If 1 is completely neutral / no cringe whatsoever, I’m about 3. I’ll wait to share further thoughts until I get some responses.

(Context: I used the phrase yesterday, somebody mentioned it, that got me curious about other takes too!)

I’m curious, what comes to mind when you hear the phrase “hold space”, as in holding space for someone or some topic in your thoughts?

And on a scale of 1-10, how cringe is the phrase (where 10 is ‘you want to shrivel, die, and shoot yourself out a cannon to the moon)’?

Hold That Thought just went out and it's a lot shorter, enjoy!

Shorter.

Every Thursday I share three useful things to help you turn overthinking into expert thinking. Despite recent editions of this newsletter, I do aim to keep things short. Here are this week's picks, shorter: 1. A simple, lightweight app for planning Your Week 2. Here's a list of things you’re...

My partner works for a global corporate and they're having a Monday morning free bananas in the kitchen moment.

Today, someone or something sent a 'test' email to NHS staff. Unfortunately to rather a lot of NHS staff - between 850,000 and 1.2 million. A few of whom sent reply-all responses. Chaos ensued,...
