Who we are has absolutely nothing to do with any of experiential and/or material accretion. Strip it away and discover that without labels and possessions, your identity is as mysterious as the wind and as elusive. This is Shiva.
Our tendency is to define who we are the experiences and objects we have accrued. Good times, bad times that have shaped our thinking, our jobs and possessions — it is these that become our monikers, and it is these that determine our own sense of worth, or our sense of the worth of other people. And we call this life, we call this our identity. But this is not our identity. This is the mask we wear, the facade we mistakenly interpret for the interior of our being.
Happy Krishna Janmashtami!
