Apropos localization; did you know that you can now implement javascript functions to "calculate" the return value? That couldn't be achieved with the former XML format. It's the same concept for icons, since you choose when and how to "accept" an icon and what to provide when an icon of a certain name is requested.

@warrenbuckley @hotchillicode @nielslyngsoe

Yep, but we need to be smart about icons. Lots of metadata to extract and show in the UI and also to make the search smarter (icons have aliases and all sorts of stuff). If you just dump the files in a folder, we don't necessarily know the format. I'm not saying that functionality couldn't come back, but it's difficult to think of this as something relevant for the Management API, since it's got nothing to do with data. Same goes for localization.

In a week's time, we will be hosting a new edition of UmbraCollab featuring @iOvergaard and a whole lot of Bellissma.

Join us and pepper him with your questions, please! 😁

@helloblake I think Mastodon is situated in a sweet spot between all of them. Keep posting here and you should be reachable everywhere πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«
@helloblake I’m fascinated by all of this β€œnew stuff”. I don’t particularly like Meta as a company though, but I still have an FB profile. Probably gonna check out Threads, but I hear they only have a mobile app, so will be a bit limited. I use Twitter a lot from the web app in comparison … but Threads and Mastodon will be federated anyway, I think?
I signed up for Mastodon and Lemmy being a fugitive from both Twitter and Reddit, not knowing that they can communicate with one another. Fediverse apparently. And now Threads is joining the Fediverse as well? I feel like I need to get caught up on all this stuff.
