Happy Earth Day! 🌱
What’s your CO2 Birthday?

I have now lived through an ice aged change in CO2 (100ppm increase).

Birthday 326 ppm
Today 426 ppm

I dream of the day concentrations (ppm) start going down. Yes, Emissions are leveling off and will start dropping, but it’s Emissions of zero + drawdown needed to return to safer CO2 ppm levels.
More work to do 🌱

Look your CO2 birthday here:

What’s Your Birth Carbon?

How much have carbon dioxide levels increased during your lifetime? Start by seeing what levels were like during the year you were born, and learn what we can do to solve climate change.

Chemical & Engineering News
I usually avoid reading climate science at night. Broke my own rule tonight reading this latest commentary from James Hansen et al. It is not good news and should compel journalists to cover this, world leaders to get off their asses, and all of us to do all we can to push for policies to decarbonize our world ASAP. The only other option is mass suffering and climate injustices that will continue to get worse with every added fraction of a degree rise. We are in a climate emergency. Act like it
EV roadtrip WA to CA to drop our first kid at college. We do this road trip annually but it’s bringing on All the feels this time. First stop Bend OR and a beautiful hello as we pass Mt Hood.
Anyone else up late submitting their abstracts to #AGU23? Great to see a continuing of virtual presentation options - allows those of us who prefer not to fly to participate
You can’t keep approving fossil fuel projects while the world is burning and ignoring the harms of mass reinfection if you are claiming to “follow the science.”
Wow this article in American Nurse is spot on! Climate touches everything and nurses, the most trusted of all professionals, get it. Thanks to Claire Richards PhD, RN, and co-authors for an amazing article and for including Talk Climate .org resources in your article. https://www.myamericannurse.com/warming-planet-human-health/
A warming planet and human health

Planetary warming combined with societal inequity result in disastrous impacts of wildfires, extreme temperatures, and severe storms on health

Talking with young people about fossil fueled climate change in ways that help protect their emotional wellbeing and empower action is so important. I had a great chat with Stephanie Desmon at the John’s Hopkins, Public Health On Call program on how to talk about the climate crisis with the next generation. And shared resources and info from Talk Climate .org and Climate Action Familieshttps://johnshopkinssph.libsyn.com/623-how-to-talk-about-the-climate-crisis-with-kids
