To me, data protection is part of something new - a new digital right in essence, and not just some translation or update of privacy rights in the digital age.

This is why data protection, #datarights and free software (aka open source) go hand-in-hand for a free digital society

Maybe some legal nerd neatpicking - but why emphasize 'privacy' (which is Article 7, not 8) here? The right to data protection and the right to privacy are two separate fundamental rights under the Charter (although not always clearly separate under other human rights frames).
