Look into my eyes

I never finish anything. I have a black belt in partial arts.
I usually roll my eyes a bit when people opine about generalizable lessons from infamous software death marches like the Air Traffic Control revamp or the Denver airport baggage control horrorΒΉ, but this piece was surprisingly interesting & informative.

Rewrite, refactor, or reinvent?

A new take on the age-old question: Should you rewrite your application from scratch, or is that β€œthe single worst strategic mistake that any software company can make”? Turns out there are more than two options for dealing with a mature codebase.

This SceneScape thing is phenomenal -https://scenescape.github.io/ WANT. (Nvidia, code coming they say?) #aiart #video

@danacorn

If people miss wizarding schools, may I offer some suggestions?

Here are ones I've read...
- Terry Pratchett's Unseen University books, especially _Sourcery_, are both funnier and deeper than Hogwarts.
- Ursula LeGuin wrote the _Earthsea_ series about magical training... and, again, examines the sexism behind so much fantasy.
- M. A. Larson wrote the _Pennyroyal Academy_, if you're looking for a fairly straight interpretation of the wizarding school trope.

None of those authors are transphobes.

Huh.

Consumer Reports (CR) has released a mobile app (iOS, Android on the way) that shows what data companies collect about you, then allows you to have CR get the data deleted:

https://www.permissionslipcr.com

Essentially, CR will act as the data ombudsman for anyone who asks them to. I love it.

CR is a non-profit that accepts no advertising or corporate sponsorship, and they have a great reputation. It's a superb choice to take on the data capitalists.

US-only (don't @ me).
