Is this still an ethical job if conditions and pay increase? I believe content moderation is necessary, but how can we best do it so all parties are satisfied? #so315
I had not thought about this even being a job, and it's crazy to me that not only is it a job, but an extremely crappy job as well. People should not be subjected to that kind of material period, but especially not for such little pay and horrible conditions. #so315
"Post-truth" culture is such an interesting concept that I've never really thought super deeply about, but I do think it's true. So many people just want views and likes, and a good way of getting those is coming up with crazy fake news. It really blurs the lines on what to believe. #so315
I really appreciate that Cline suggests changing how we think about even just the word "bias". It has such powerful connotation and taking a step back and thinking about what it means in different situations is extremely valuable when assessing things like that. #so315
This Awareness Instinct that Kovach and Rosentiel describe is really interesting. How does this change from generation to generation? Older generations miss "Free uncensored, undistorted, abundant information" (2), but younger generations won't be exposed to news like that so will this instinct change or go away as time goes on and news becomes more and more commercialized? #so315
This makes me think about South Park's representations of Trump. They say that media outlets are being careful about what they say about Trump, but Paramount is completely dogging on him (as they should) - what will the implications of this be? #so315
I keep going back to the "we are the media" idea; is this just something Elon Musk made up to promote X and make it seem more inclusive or is it just true for those who share the same views? #so315
When thinking about the digital divide/ digital inequality, do you think it will shrink as time goes on since the older generations who had to really adapt to the growing tech industry will be gone? Or will the gap just keep growing and repeating the same pattern as tech advances more and more? #so315
I hadn't thought about the safety implications that the eradication of local news could have, and I think that's something extremely important to note in the discourse on local media. #so315
I had never really thought about the difference in content from sources with paywalls vs. without, and it's extremely interesting. I know these sources and creators need to make money and the paywalls are necessary in that sense, but is there a way to spread the paywalls more diversely? #so315
