@MayhamMonday @MostlyHarmless Yeah, I wish Americans wouldn’t suck at bloody revolutions.
@zeh @kottke 2/2 You gradually climb up the ladder, just like your team can from 7th to 1st league. National and international scouting for exceptional talent can start in the early teens. Messi for example was scored from Argentina to Barcelona when he was 13 years old, at a time when this was completely unheard of. He basically spent all good life at FCB. That’s why it was such a big deal when he decided to go to Paris a few years ago.
@zeh @kottke Yeah true. I always found the American system with semi-professional sports at academic institutions a bit odd. In most countries, kids join whatever the local club in their neighborhood is (for any sport). In bigger cities, the more successful clubs (especially the ones that have pro adult teams) will start scouting the best talents from the surrounding clubs to join their teams, who usually have more professional facilities, more frequent training. 1/2
@kottke I don’t know anything about Lalas’ upbringing or early football career, but I assume that this also shows the difference between two poor boys growing up with a ball glued to their feet since the literal moment they started walking, and a college/high school kid who chose football as one of many athletic career paths he had.
@timo Anscheinend sogar HDR?!
@timo Neuland! Live Sport Stream in “UHD”.
@whereami @gruber @cabel @leoncowle This exactly. Most Europeans, Asians and Africans have never eaten one in their life. Hershey’s products are rarely available outside the US and Canada. It’s also a very “acquired” taste that especially Europeans don’t like.
