My normal time to grocery shop is around 8:30am on Saturday. There normally aren't many other people shopping at that time. It's my one guaranteed time out of the house every week, so I like to take my time.
But today. The parking lot looked like a Saturday afternoon. People EVERYWHERE. I guess the "crazy 8s" sale brought all the crazies out early. Damn.
Thankfully I had hardly anything on my list. I just haven't felt like cooking recently. I was in & out in record time.
I guess "location, location, location" is applicable to gas stations as well. ๐คจ
There is a Circle K (used to be a Holiday) about 5 min from my house. They have gas for $2.69/gal.
There is another Circle K that is about 10 min from my house. They have gas for $2.59/gal. This one is closer to the interstate, so I'm assuming that is why it's cheaper.
I will gladly drive 5 extra minutes to save 10 cents/gal. Bonus: that one is right by the grocery store I shop at, so I stopped to pick up lunch.
Our Content Strategist (at least I think that's her title) asked me for info on a project that I worked on 16 YEARS AGO for a case study. It was the first project that I worked on when I started at this company ... and I picked up where someone else had left off.
How the hell am I supposed to remember information on a project from 16 YEARS AGO when I don't remember what I did last week? ๐ณ
What do you do when the city snow plow deposits big chunks of heavy, wet snow into the moat at the end of your driveway?
You move some of the chunks to the pile on the boulevard but smack the rest of it down into the water to fill in some of the moat. ๐
The system isn't out of the area yet, but the forecast said the snowfall would be lighter on the back side of it.
We've only gotten about 2 to 4 inches total here. Some areas to the north got about a foot. ๐ณ
It's only early February, and I'm already dealing with moat issues at the end of my driveway. That usually waits until at least mid-March, but not this year. I don't know if I can blame climate change, but I'm sure it's a factor.
I'm happy that snow is melting, but the fact that the city plows completely ignored the driveway markers on my street (I wasn't the only one who put them out), the water can't flow to the drain. So I have a partially frozen moat. ๐ฉ
That was interesting. I was out clearing the present the city plow left at the end of my driveway and watched one neighbor gun his truck through his pile (he never clears it) and back into another neighbor's vehicle ... and then proceeded to drive off. ๐ณ He hit hard enough to break the other guy's tail light & crack the fender.
The guy who "hit & ran" came home as I was coming inside. I stopped him to make sure he knew he hit the car. He said he did. Then why drive off? He better report it.
How old do I have to be before I can live in a senior living community?
I'm not talking about a retirement home type of place. I'm talking about a community of townhouses or condos where I can do anything I want to the house but SOMEONE ELSE takes care of clearing snow in the winter, landscaping when there's no snow, and someone I can call to fix shit when it breaks.
And maybe one that has transportation available so I don't need to own a car anymore. ๐ค
Working from home in the winter is both good & bad.
It's good because I don't have to drive to the office in a blizzard or other adverse conditions.
It's bad because I still have to drive my car at least once a day to keep my battery charged. I'm at the point in the winter when I have to drive it twice a day. The HIGH temp is forecast to be around -10ยฐF over the weekend ... and that's actual air temp. The windchill is going to be even colder.
How long until spring? ๐ฉ
