jesus that took way too long
had to spend 15 minutes haggling with the BIOS to create a boot entry, and it didn't want to unless i deleted the rest of the boot entries (which were just various other distros and clones of windows boot manager). all because it didn't create one during setup for *some* reason (i guess it's related?)

anyway it works now, moving it to sid right now
