My cats are being extremely chatty today and it's excruciating.  

(I checked every possible source of distress for them and everything is as usual, they just want to socialize. It's like they've never been online and don't know they're supposed to be aloof and indifferent 
 😒 )

@corvidae I can imagine. I do enjoy the fantasy adventure type story of the first book, and I'm very fond of resistance movement against a Big Evil as a trope, but that's about it. Somehow it manages to be both too convoluted *and* too on-the-nose at the same time
 

I'm not v good at deep critique, but right now it feels a little like one of those show vs. tell problems: a lot of key things/plot points are explained through expositional mono-/dialogue, which just doesn't grab my feels?

I really wanted to like it. :( Oh well, on to new things I suppose.
