Moved to Ireland from SF in 2022 where I do the same stuff I always did (museum wandering, Switch gaming, perfume sniffing) but with more potatoes and raincoats.
for me it's less "do they have my data?" and more "do I want them to profit off my attention?"
There are many things to be upset by lately but I cannot stop sending angry feedback to Google about renaming the Gulf of Mexico
I know it's pretty passe in 2025 to complain about autocorrect but I am so over "my" being changed to "Mt". How often do I really want to type "mountain"? Like literally never. I'm in #Ireland ffs where there aren't even any proper mountains (by my western US standards)
Apropos of nothing: never ever ever get a women stupid pink hardware. you want to get someone a tool kit, get them proper tools ffs.
Trying to locate my brother, just described him as "really tall and American". Works extremely well in #dublin , less effective in California.
I'm like one of the last humans who still types out "<3" because I can't be bothered to find the heart emoji.
Family Christmas: the time of year when no matter how old, competent, or knowledgeable you are, you are 100% doing it wrong. #Christmas #family
Damn the Aran Sweater Market is out of legwarmers. I blame our super cold fall, but it's messing with my Traditional Gift To People in the US as I return for xmas.
Just realising that while, yes, I do Remember The Alamo, I don't actually know *why* I'm meant to remember it.
When I first moved to Ireland I was appalled by the ubiquity and reliance upon instant coffee. I reasoned that with deep cultural tea leanings and counters already bedecked with electric kettles the people shied away from a second hot-beverage-making machine hogging tiny home counterspace (leaving aside the ease of storing a drip cone, french press, or bialetti). But now I've come to appreciate the role instant coffee plays in the morning as I wait for properly brewed coffee to finish. #coffee
