Is there something inherently having an online community centered around a real-life geographical community? Most of us are Americans…is there something wrong with that? Does every place have to cater to everyone equally?

The great thing about Lemmy or other federated technologies is that other communities can spin up their own instances just as easily as Beehaw. But expecting the Beehaw creators to be able to relate to and effectively moderate everyone equally is too much, in my opinion. We are only human.

I definitely want to go at some point. I have some friends that have been to the one in Denver and really liked it.
I would edit the title if it were incorrect, but it’s not.
This evidently happened on Sunday. This is the perfect example of the sort of thing which makes me sometimes ashamed and even afraid to live in Texas. We should be above this. How hypocritical.

Texas church firebombed weeks after visit from anti-LGBTQ YouTuber - sh.itjust.works

Authorities in Plano, Texas, are investigating what they call “an intentionally set fire” at a Unitarian Universalist church Sunday, just weeks after it was targeted for criticism in a video by an anti-LGBTQ Christian YouTuber. A passerby spotted flames coming from Community Unitarian Universalist Church early Sunday, Plano Fire-Rescue said in a statement. The fire was around the front door and was extinguished quickly, causing no injuries, it said.

Nay.

Is this two different proposals in one, though?

I, for one, wouldn't have joined this instance if it wasn't blocked.
Whoa, that worked. It's as if searching for it actually created or linked the community. Thank you!

Inaccessible communities? - sh.itjust.works

Hello, I’m new here! I’m currently trying to find communities to join. One of them I ran across which I’d personally like to join is https://lemmy.world/c/dfw [https://lemmy.world/c/dfw] , which I believe should translate to https://sh.itjust.works/c/[email protected] [https://sh.itjust.works/c/[email protected]] , but that currently gives me a 404. Is there any reason for this? Am I doing something wrong? I appreciate the help!
