@xs4me2 @McSpocky perhaps the best way is to pay attention to more positive people, use alternative non-toxic platforms, buy cars that come with realisable promises, and only buy goods from organizations which have values broadly aligned to your own (or at least don’t advertise on platforms that fan the hate)
@[email protected] @rbreich I am not sure whether that case was the result of a low/lax regulatory environment or just unscrupulous operatives …. But most regulations are to protect end users or the environment … so there must be increased risk to our most vulnerable. Project 2025 is weird if it results in the loss of such protections.

@junesim63 This Mastodon is great. Full of positive stories and largely free of hate and lies (or at least I have not found any yet - only day 2 and I am tryin
g to find my way round).

It seems to be an agent for and a conduit to positive change. No civil war here, just civil people looking out for their whole community. How great is that?

It is so cool to see some of the ‘silent majority’ standing against misinformation, bigots and racists (or thugs wanting to cause trouble).

@rbreich Is Citizens United only part of the problem? Is the system broke (or partially so)? If so, what can be done to fix it? What will enable better democratic processes, better representation, fuller participation and better access? Should lies, mis- and disinformation be further controlled? Who has the most to gain from retaining the status quo?
@pinhman @rbreich Have the capabilities of mainstream media been reduced, or have we been conditioned through social media to believe it so?

@sjvn I have just left X because it is such a toxic environment with such weird views. Maybe I am the only one, but I like lemonade. At the risk of being overly negative, having just left X I think it would be more akin to ‘Buy my Kool-Aid’….

I am not sure why anyone would advertise on X as there would be few brands whose values (or lack of them) align with those of X - it just seems a bit of an own goal to then sue!
