"Cake or death?" That's a pretty easy question. Anyone could answer that. --Eddie Izzard

Hundreds Of Workers Seem To Leave Twitter As Elon Musk's 'Hardcore' Deadline Passes

The billionaire reportedly met with "critical" employees before the Thursday ultimatum, but many staffers left anyway.

Why the hell am I (a queer leftist tech/art-weirdo in San Francisco) suddenly seeing promoted tweets from Franklin Graham and pro-life organizations? I guess Twitter 2.0 is here and making its priorities known.

🤠
HARDCORE! GO!
(I can't even, this all gets more absurd by the day)

Anyway, there's no point to this tweetstorm, I'm just vastly amused at how many people want to broadcast that they think what EM is doing is *JUST GREAT*. I just can't imagine the mindset where that seems like a good idea. 11/11
Although in CA, in some cases you can collect unemployment after quitting if you had "good cause" to quit, and "I was asked to self-certify FTC compliance despite not being qualified to do so" probably counts (but IANAL, etc.) 10/
Actually, "with cause" may not be the correct thing to worry about. There a few reasons for firing that can prevent collecting unemployment, and I doubt those conditions have been met. Which means that many people getting fired can collect unemployment, which is a win 9/
Yes, even getting fired, given CA labor laws. It will be very interesting to see if these firings stick as "with cause." IANAL so I'm won't predict, but I've been involved in enough hiring/firing decisions to know it's rarely as simple as "at-will employment" makes it sound 8/
We all tend to do mental gymnastics to justify staying in situations that are unacceptable. Eventually we (hopefully) learn to stop doing that. To realize that "losing" a job can be a positive outcome. 7/
Also, claiming that all of this is somehow normal. In my 25 years in the tech industry I've worked at companies in all stages from tiny start-up to past-their-prime-and-getting-taken-private. Of course I haven't seen everything, but wha their idol is doing is not normal. 6/
and got fired for it doesn't seem to be something they can comprehend. Protecting their idol's thin skin and scoring "points" off everyone laughing at his incompetence and petty cruelty appears to be their main activity. 5/
