@Badmother ah yeah we have a boiler too but it's older than the inlaws and a 2:1 model didn't seem a good fit for us. Yeah just drain to the sump - mine does to the laundry drain across the basement.
@Badmother honestly not as scary as I thought. Top heavy for sure. You'll want to account for condensate with a pump as on heat pump mode it works as a dehumidifier. Basically a win win for a basement tank.
Pretty stoked to replace my water heater with a heat pump model! Help from a friend made it a ton easier but I'm glad to retire the old natural gas model for something that sips less than $100/year in ⚡⚡ ⚡ #green #diyhomeprojects
