offline e-mails - Lemmy.World

If I download e-mails from my account using a client like Thunderbird, can I just somehow copy them to a thumb drive and open them in whatever program later, without logging in to the account etc? I want to delete my account, but need access to all my e-mails off.

mozilla's mocking survey - Lemmy.World

Holy shit, I closed the browser out of anger and haven’t taken any screenshots, but hopefully someone will reproduce what I’ve seen. I got prompted to take part in a survey upon opening Firefox, so I did. First screen asked what kinds of electronic devices I use to browse and how often. No biggie, reasonable question. The second screen appeared with one statement and choice answers ranging from “strongly disagree” to “strongly agree”. I do not remember it verbatim, but the gist of it was “It’s okay to share user data with advertisers as long as the advertised content gets more relevant to you.”. Upon clicking “strong disagree”, a new statement appeared. Again, not verbatim, but it was something like “I have a vivid imagination.”, agree/disagree. WTF tech bros. What is even the point in such implication? It looks like they are trying to vent their personal frustration with “nuts” not willing to share personal information with who knows who, than to actually get constructive feedback. Truly worthy of NFT/crypto/“AI” bros. Please, if you get the prompt, get the screenshots. I can’t find a way to retake this survey.

home network - switching from LTE to 5G - Lemmy.World

Hello all Recently, my home internet provider has finally made 5G network available in my plan. Right now I’m using an LTE router that I was planning to swap for something OpenWRT enabled anyway, so it is a good moment to make changes to my home network infrastructure. I’m looking for a 5G modem I could connect to a new router, but all search results seem both very expensive and a bit shady. Is it just the reality that 5G modems are not easily accessible to regular people/not produced by usual consumer manufacturers, or do I apply wrong approach to the matter and search wrong? For testing, I used my phone with Ethernet tethering through USB C hub enabled and it worked great, but I would prefer to use a dedicated device, hopefully cheaper than a whole smartphone.

I’m a little confused about what states in US are. Are they more like their own countries united in alliance, or are they districts of one country?

Help! Is there a way to fix a single lot? - Lemmy.World

Hey all! I wonder if there is a Sims 1 expert on here that could help me. One of the plots in my neighbourhood got like this, I think after eviction and demolition (the wall and phone I added manually later, needed mr Bachelor to be socially available lol). Is there a way to fix it without resetting the neighbourhood or using cheats? Are plots stored as separate files somewhere, so I could paste a healthy one in here? Thanks!
