Transmissions: Casa Susanna and the mists of time

The trans community has a long history, but all too often, the archives are buried, hidden behind the firmest of closet doors, and under threat of being forever lost.

As overplayed a term as it is, we are living in what amounts to a modern day witch-hunt, with transgender people replacing women in pointy hats.

Transmissions: Under the influence

It sounds positively cynical to say this, but we live in an era of spectacle and circus, provided to us hour by hour via social media.

It’s, frankly, amazing to me how so much just *snaps into place* with transition.

It is, to me, the biggest thing non-trans people — even allies — don’t get. Our trans selves is who we are. We’re not becoming anything. We simply *are.*

So I wish everyone a joyous, and safe, Transgender Day of Visibility. Revel in the travels you have made, consider how far you may go — and celebrate each others journeys. #TDOV2023

I’m not gonna tell you it’s been an easy path, but it’s been a rewarding one. Much more than that, it’s been the *right* path. It is who I am.

Yes, I’d do it all over again. If anything, I’d likely be a bit bolder a second time. #TDOV2023

I’m one of those “classic” stories, I suppose. Had a strong inkling I was trans at age 3, knew the words by 10 or so (in the 1970s!). Transitioned in my 20s.

I’m now 55, and have lived as can openly trans woman for more years than I haven’t. Life… well, it’s good. #TDOV2023

This Transgender Day of Visibility, it is remarkably easy to want to talk about how hard things are, especially this week and all its horrors.

But no.

Transitioning was the best gift I ever gave myself, and I’m going to take this moment to celebrate it. #tdov2023

New Transmissions: “six days in February.” Please give it a read, would you? #trans. https://www.ebar.com/story.php?ch=news&sc=commentary&id=323085

I’m just going to put this here, and hope we can make this manifest:

May 6, 2023 is the 90th anniversary of the destruction of the Institut für Sexualwissenschaft.

We, the LGBTQ community and our Allies, need a big protest that day. I’m just saying.
