Day 3 we walked up and and and up all morning up through the fog up up up we made. I was slow, my gear was heavy, my water bottles empty and my stomach grumbling. Together the band of 4 adventurers had made it, helped each other through and completed a challenge for each of us and for at least one nearly a decade in the making. I’d do parts of it again, I’ll review my gear and its weight. #NoHelicopters
Day 2 started for me right there on that picnic table. It would turn out to be very long. Still some ways down before going back up to the peaks of Mt Solitary before plunging into the darkness and eternal moisture of the valley below. Sore as we trekked through the darkness to arrive at a dark dewy campsite where I fought off a migraine with the wonders of modern medicine to turn into my picnic table for the night on an empty stomach with the nothing but the promise of more adventure to come.

Day 1 a band of intrepid adventurers begins the descent into the ancient valley below the cliffs of Katoomba some last minute HUMINT would throw us in the opposite direction we’d planned and seal our fate and see us camped around a fire at Ruined Castle unaware of what was to come next

Day 0 Mt Solitary Walk. After arriving in the dark at a nearby caravan park we awoke blanketed in fog with a layer of front on the tents a chilling sign of things to come before we’d set off on foot to descend the Jamison valley and ascend the lofty heights of Mount Solitary.
Day 3 - about 8km to go from Oakey Beach to Maloneys where we ended the trek with a swim. My legs are killing me. You can see the shelter we setup in the dark and the wood platforms you get. Keeps things warmer, drier and less slopey. Also check out all those flies. Most I’ve ever seen. Even more than in the outback which is apparently having a very bad year for flies. Then the last photo the last staircase to descend to end an epic journey
Day 2 - the second half. Started off ok. But I probably shouldn’t have had a burger and beer and then walked 8 more km. We got to the camp site after dark. Successful setup. Pretty good nights sleep. Very peaceful at Oakey beach. A Kookaburra swooped me and stole some burger.
Day 2 - the first half about 8km of the 16 or so we had to do I guess. Waiting for low tide to cross the Durras Lake inlet
The end of Day 1 of the Marramarang walk at spectacular pebbly beach. Have a close look at the photos for furry friends.
Day 1 Murramarang South Coast Walk a short 8ish km day across some beautiful coastline “home” in time for army ration packs by the fire.
Day 0 Murramarang coastal walk - Smokey Horse - been wanting to try this place for a while but it’s always closed
