girls own the void
there's so many different facets to its awfulness. like, there's the racist implications behind someone telling the black support character "get over [x], that was 300 years ago! stop being so sensitive", there's the incredibly gross portrayal of teenage alita and the gross way she's talked about, there's the hilariously bad dialogue, the fact that the entire movie is basically sequel bait, the earsplitting volume of the movie, the sexualization of e v e r y female character...

just saw alita: battle angel

its really bad
really really really fucking bad

however, countries with a rising industrial proletariat are few and far between. instead, we're seeing a rise in service proletarians and a condition best termed as "surplus-capital alongside surplus-population". this condition, rather than being tied to strikes, is tied to the blockade and the riot (i can elaborate on why this is the case if necessary)
strikes, as a tactic, are by and large tied to a male-dominated, declining sector of the proletariat (the industrial proletariat). this is why, for example, the few places where we do see strikes increase are in places with a rising industrial proletariat.
