Arbitrary opinions ironically held. he/him/his

I’m trying to wrap my head around the fact that 10-15 years ago Linux was the OS with the worst UX, now it’s the one with the best UX.

Because it’s made by volunteers who only care about the result and their users, but Microsoft and Apple mostly care only about themselves.

@praxiscode Pet Shop Boys?
@georgetakei Cripes. Of course he's a Corinthian columns guy. So tacky. Go Doric or GTFO.
They’ll try to deny it but this is exactly what they voted for.

And now it's time for a "very specific to me" gripe:

For goddess' sake... post the direct URL to your podcast's RSS feed. You don't have to encourage people to use it. Just put it there, for assholes like me, who don't want to listen to your podcast on fucking Spotify.

@ziibiing.com This is just what normal people do.
Big ICE-spotting day in my neighborhood today. Maybe there are fewer of them, but they're still active, still a threat, still need to be run out of town.
@inthehands This is for a local conference I used to help organize. I like that it puts values first (the "why"), then details mechanisms. Note the CC BY-SA license. https://minnewebcon.org/code-of-conduct.html
The “If we tax billionaires, they will leave” argument is like saying “If we make murder illegal, then all the murderers will leave”. It’s flawed in a number of ways. But I’ll highlight one. We want them to leave. They don’t contribute to our community. Instead, they are a succubus. They rent apartments and don’t live in them. They prevent us from building the infrastructure we want. So GTFO if you don’t like it.
