Wow. This is quite the interview between Barack Obama and Heather Cox Richardson.

My mistake. Cheney didn't write it despite the erroneous attribution by Reich in his newsletter. It was written by Dr. Pru Lee in April, but it's still an excellent guide for positive actions to save our democracy.
I put a comment on Reich's substack expressing concern about the error in attribution though as it hurts his credibility as a trusted information source.

I appreciate your sharing these ideas as they are important and useful for taking positive action in these trying times. I am concerned though about the erroneous attribution as that hurts your credibility as a reliable source of information. It's become clear that although this piece was shared to the Liz Cheney/Adam Kinzinger Against Trump group on Facebook back in April, Liz Cheney didn't author it, Dr. Pru Lee did. As your letter gets shared with this erroneous attribution, it furthers the idea that people are spreading false information on both sides which hurts our efforts to save our democracy from the fascist attacks we are facing. Several commenters have said that they don't care who wrote it, and to a point, I understand that sentiment given the positive actions that are laid out in the article. Unfortunately, we know that the opposition will seize the opportunity to amplify the erroneous attribution to discredit and smear you and those who share this important information. I understand that it was probably an honest oversight given the volume of information you process on an ongoing basis, but please, please, be careful so that your voice remains a trusted one.
What I can't get my head around is what they hope to accomplish by eliminating vaccines and bringing back dangerous, communicable, preventable diseases. After all, if all of these diseases are allowed to surge without any mitigation, it puts these idiot anti-vaxxers in grave danger as well as the rest of us who want to protect ourselves and those around us.
Making the country sicker this way would destroy the economy by decreasing productivity significantly. I don't see how this helps the rich get richer, and it puts them at the same risk as everyone else.
I used to think that if somebody didn't want their tetanus shot, great. Let them die a horrible death if they are injured and contract the disease. That one isn't transmitted human to human. But for all the diseases that are transmitted person to person, eliminating vaccines would hurt the rich too. And actually they still need their tetanus shots too because they also cover Diphtheria and Pertussis. Sigh.
Yes, he shocked me as well, but I'm not his constituent.
I've sent an email to Khanna as he is my rep asking why he voted no. That vote seemed so out of character.
I understand that an impeachment motion against a GOP president (even a criminal one, or maybe especially a criminal one these days) won't carry in a GOP controlled House, but that doesn't mean that everyone should roll over and be complicit in the administration's wrong doings. They need to be on record doing what they can to hold people accountable for their actions.
Actually, Liz Cheney of all people had some great suggestions in answer to the question of what the Dems should be doing. Robert Reich reported it in a recent newsletter.

She doesn't talk about this particular vote, but she does offer some great, actionable approaches that we all can take, especially our Democratic leadership.
I'm rather shocked at several of the no votes. Ro Khanna? I'm so disappointed in him on this. It makes no sense at all.
He's just as nuts as his delusional leader. He just is a little better at putting together complete sentences no matter how idiotic.
I very much appreciate your posts. They are informative, and often they help separate the facts from the abundant fiction out there.
As for why people reply to news posts. I can't speak for everyone of course, but sometimes it seems like there's an effort for a discussion. Other times, it's frustration. And then there those times when it's straight up commiseration and appreciation.
And on the glimmers of hope, please keep them coming! There are more people opposed to this regime than supporting it, and every hopeful outcome helps that cause. Together we can save our democracy.
I used to think we needed to get rid of the filibuster given the way that the GOP abused it, but instead, it seems like the better solution is to go back to the talking filibuster rather than allowing senators to merely say they filibuster with nothing behind it.
But you're right. As soon as it become inconvenient for the current regime, they'll eliminate the filibuster entirely to further embolden the majority and reduce all minority power. And if they do, it will be fascinating to see how that plays out if and when the majority switches again.
Wow. This is quite the interview between Barack Obama and Heather Cox Richardson.
Thanks to @jaykuo for this informative piece on how the ABA is doing its part to stand up for the rule of law.
Right. Double jeopardy only applies for being tried by the same sovereign (i.e., the feds) after a pardon.
