if the latest nominees are confirmed, the united states will have done more damage to its global influence in the last 24 hours than in any day of my lifetime.

Trump's nomination of Gaetz will be the clearest signal yet of whether GOP senators are ready to do his bidding on all sorts of issues.

If Trump can get 51 votes for Gaetz, he can get a Senate majority for just about anything — like cutting back Social Security.

Be warned.

Every single Republican will fall in line and every person Donald Trump nominates will be confirmed. No GOP Senator will stand in the gap because they’re all afraid Elon Musk will finance a primary against them. Let’s stop pretending otherwise.
We can live without Twitter but Twitter cannot live without us. It’s as simple as that.
"Trump is naming a cadre of unqualified sycophants to staff the federal agencies, safe in the knowledge that his GOP allies will cede their constitutional authority to him and 3 justices will suddenly discover that recess appointments are very cool and very legal after all."

Trump demands Senate recess so he can install Star Wars cantina

My husband saved my life by doing CPR after I dropped dead at home from a cardiac arrest in 2012, so YES bystander CPR can save lives and I urge you to intervene. Have someone call 911 (or 112) and start compressions immediately to the tune of *Stayin' Alive" (no joke), you don't have to perform mouth to mouth, just act quickly. I was in a coma for 9 days but pulled through thanks to him.

I’m old enough to remember when no Senator, of either party, would have voted to confirm a clown like this as Secretary of Defense.
3 years ago Twitter suppressing deadly covid misinformation was viewed as a partisan attack on Republicans that generated months of performative outrage and resulted in congressional hearings. Today the owner of the platform literally took a job in the Trump administration. 🤔

Crazy graphic of the day.

Wage Theft vs. Other Forms of Theft in the U.S. | Tompkins County Workers' Center

We have way too many people who come to us @ the Tompkins County Workers’ Center have been the victim of Wage Theft. This image graphically lays out the monetary costs, on a national level, of Wage Theft as compared to the combination of ALL: 1) burglaries; 2) robberies; 3) larcenies; and 4) auto theft. […]
