most interesting version might be that Hodari is chill with Reth only until the player character brings up dating him, then it gets weird
(also I said the thing about the beer without really thinking about it, but it makes me laugh to imagine Hodari thinking of Reth as a bartender and not a cook. because the only thing we know about Hodari's taste in food is grilled meat. there is no way he eats Reth's lettuce soup.)
("the secret ingredient is hot water!")
alternative headcanon: Hodari has no problem with Reth. he knows his history (the part everyone knows) but Hodari also sees Reth every day and he seems like a decent guy who can pour you a beer and then leave you alone to drink it.
(also if he talks shit about someone abandoning their Path, Najuma can use it as leverage to argue with him about letting her follow hers)
so you could tell him anyway, and but they'd both hate that you spilled a secret, I think?
you could just try to get them in one place and trying to get along. it would be awkward. might work if they got to talking about family, but they don't trust each other enough to be that vulnerable.
I think the actual strat is to get Reth and Najuma talking about, like, automated soup stirrers. they get to be weird nerds together and if Najuma likes him then Hodari will come around.
tempted to write Palia fic just to get the idea out of my head. it has so many good characters and roomy spaces in the story, I was not surprised that people are already doing it.
always torn between wanting to read what's already out there and putting it off because it won't be exactly what I want 😂
felt like writing some demon smut today and while my musician neighbor has excellent taste, what he's practicing is entirely the wrong vibe for this
(I went with a dark ambient spotify playlist)
thinking about how at the end of an episode about longing to see people you care about, Tohru goes up to the roof where Kyo always hangs out
and then doesn't understand why she's crying when he implies that whoever she ends up with won't be him
