Life is more wonderful, and more terrible, than we could ever have imagined.

I'm a retired ( #ChurchofEngland ) vicar. Still #enchantedbyGod . Not so much with religion(s), or the Church. How and why has 'religion' become so toxic? And how can we who love God detoxiify it?

Rabbi Jonathan Sacks writes that Judaism is, perhaps uniquely, a civilisation all of whose canonical texts are anthologies of arguments.

I'd be more inclined if you promised NOT to post a dog photo. Sorry

Maybe that's the secret: Never stop learning.
When I was 17 and looked about 12, I could never have imagined that when you're 73 and people say, You look too young to be retired, you actually feel quite flattered.
Imagine a world in which nobody thought it necessary, or desirable, to 'convert' other people, so that they believe and think and behave just like us...
The disadvantage of #Kobo is that they don't have quite the range of titles that #Kindle has. But we have to make some sacrifices for our principles.

thanks for the advice. although I signed up to #mastodon 2 years ago I'm only just getting the hang of it thanks to the influx of so many refugees from the social media app that may not be named
Help! I still can't deactivate my account on the #birdsite. I'm being held prisoner by a crazed billionaire

I prefer #Kobo because you're not giving Jeff Bezos your money, and you can get .epub books from other sources.

@gncif @bookstodon Amazon sucks, go with Kobo. Easier access to your library direct on Kobo as well.
