Why Smart People Keep Getting AI Wrong

YouTube

I built an App skill in OpenMates that searches flights directly inside chat.

Ask for a route, date, and preferences, then inspect structured results, stops, maps, and booking links without digging through a wall of text.

This is one of the App skills already available in OpenMates.

https://youtube.com/watch?v=vhrJqOGrXGo interesting video and important point, about the rejection of low effort AI slop especially. Although he misses one important point: besides the low effort slop I would argue people aren’t pissed primarily about the technology but about greedy big tech companies and enshittification startups pushing whatever brings them the most market dominance, regardless the costs for society and the environment.
Welp, everyone HATES A.I.

I built an App skill in OpenMates that can search events across Meetup, Luma, and other platforms from one chat.

You ask for a city, topic, and time range, and it pulls together useful results with details, locations, and signup links.

Much better than opening 10 event websites manually.

Last call for the OpenMates meetup at #GPN24: today 15:00-16:00 outside on the lawn / Lava lawn.

Come by if you want to talk about privacy & user interests focused open source AI agents and how to make the useful aspects of AI more accessible while maximizing safety. To turn your frustration with big tech into action.

I built a privacy feature in OpenMates that hides email addresses, phone numbers, and other sensitive details before the AI model sees them.

The placeholders are created locally on your device, and you can restore the real values when you need them.

Useful AI should not require handing over every private detail by default.

Anyone at #GPN24 who wants to have a chat about planning driving ball pits for 40C3?:D Core features: people can use their phone (web browser) or CLI to control it (including a coop mode to allow all people in the ball pit to “control” it if they can decide on a direction ^^). Plus an autonomous driving option with web browser based ride ordering would be hilarious:D (cameras pointed down enough so it can’t possibly see any faces)
