Sando using Spiegel as a pillow on #caturday night

Another inherited album I didn't know how to categorize, this was excellent: Geno Washington and the Ram Jam Band "Sifters, Shifters, Finger Clicking Mamas" from 1968. It's a compilation album of music from a British soul band with an American singer (Washington).

Dad must've taken this record with him when he moved to Canada in 1968.

Spiegel jumped on the turntable and wouldn't leave for an entire track, which is high praise.

I have so many photos of Spiegel cuddling my knee
I think there are 3 anti-Trump protests in Vancouver right now

Phew, that new Netflix documentary on the Oceangate sub is spillin' the tea...

(This is the former director of engineering talking about the day the eventual whistleblower was fired for emailing Stockton saying the sub was unsafe)

I forgot to post that I found a new-to-me free library yesterday outside the elementary school at Bute and Nelson here in downtown Vancouver. There were a bunch of children’s books inside, with space for more.

Another inherited record has been haunting me since I first brought it home last year. Who did Georgie Fame piss off to have this photo as the album cover? I much prefer the photo on the back, aggressive as it is (referencing the “The Ballad of Bonnie and Clyde” track that he’s most known for).

Hadn’t heard of this guy either, but the “Personal life” section of his Wikipedia page is rather scandalous. Some of the songs from his band “Georgie Fame and the Blue Flames” appeared in Netflix’s “The Queen’s Gambit”. He sounds quite prolific, between his own work and collaborating with other artists. He’s far more interesting than this photo suggests.

(Am I being too harsh about the picture?)

My New Brunswick comment being an obscure reference to a webcomic https://www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=2942

It was time for another cataloguing from my inherited vinyl collection. I had never heard of Catherine McKinnon and didn't know what genre this was, though I could date it pretty accurately from the hair.

Maybe I should set up a CanCon section in the shelves. Wikipedia says she was born in New Brunswick (not a real place) in 1944.

The record was so pristine I don't know if it's ever been played. "Something Old, Something New" came out in 1967. Maybe it was a wedding gift for my immigrant parents in 1969?

McKinnon has a lovely voice, and Spiegel agrees. Hats off to my cat who jumped on the turntable without making the record skip. And I can add another track to the "Spiegel likes this" playlist.
