I appreciate the desire to curate your own space and set your own rules, and I am glad I have option not to join a super strict server or, for that matter, a server that has zero rules. But I think the decentralization inherent to Mastodon's structure is going to foster even more social media factionalism. But I guess that trend was never going to reverse itself, and so I guess I should get over it.

I've been looking around for a less general server, and I am ... I'm not sure the best word for how I feel about the server rules I'm finding. One server has prevented its users from following or reading anything on @journa.host because they suspect it's a "honeypot," while an academia-focused server demands content warnings for photos of insects, discussions of any big media company, and or "posts about stresses particular to academia" - like grades or exams.

Glad that #APHA2022 attendees got to experience the full Boston weather experience. Freakishly warm and horrid humidity followed by cartoonishly powerful wind and now too cold for a light jacket but not cold enough for a heavy one (that no one brought).
@rickweinmeyer I do these but also the ritualized desperate eating of random carbs because I forgot to schedule time to find and eat lunch. Helps to accentuate the caffeine and anxiety!
