Looking forward to spending New Years day with family and friends. Was originally gonna have them over for Christmas but a blizzard rudely decided I shouldn't be able to open my door for at least the next several days.
Merry Christmas to all.

Merry Christmas to all, especially those of us currently hunkered down praying we don't lose power in weather below 0°F.

Hopefully Santa Claus has plenty of hot hands strapped to Rudolph and the gang to keep em nice and toasty.

Man it feels weird back to mastodon after nearly five years, this time because several of the people that I used to follow on Twitter have left for here.

I legitimately never thought I'd see the day that the fediverse might actually have a chance at going mainstream. Yet here we are. All it took was Elon Musk playing with the bird site harder than a 3 year old using a slinky as a whip.

I hope Purism actually manages to follow through on the Librem 5. I don't trust the Chinese Government, but what Google just did to Huawei should act as a glaring warning sign.

We desperately need an Alternative OS that isn't dependent on Google Play Services for so much of what's become basic functionality and also respects end user freedom.

Currently Googleless Android is the closest we can get, but that ain't enough.

Scientists: This is an Achievement of Historical Proportions.

Internet: Cool! Let's make porn out of it.

That moment when you finally do something that your anxiety had convinced you was going to be a challenge you wouldn't be capable of handling only for it to turn out to be the easiest thing you've ever done is both one of the best and most embarrassing moments possible.

Of course Net Neutrality isn't enough. The government needs to actually use its trust busting power again. Corporations have become more threatening to our government than it's own people have. So much so that what they want matters more to them than what we want.

If we are to preserve liberty we must break up any and all companies that have become "to big to fail".

Only then can safely we begin the work of reducing the size of government.

The loss of Net Neutrality is nearly as dangerous to a Free and Open Internet as EME is
However unlike with browser standards We the People still have in theory a voice in our government

Things net neutrality does:

Solidifies the Status Quo of the Net into Law

Things it *doesn't* do:

Enable Government Spying
Harm Infrastructure Investment
Harm Access to the Internet for the Impoverished

Net Neutrality is absolutely crucial It needs to be protected as loudly as EME needs to be fought
