Okay, I have a way of quickly converting world coordinates into a filepath that points to a file, or a rectangle of world into the paths of the files that contain the data
Depending on whether generation or IO is the bottleneck, I'll generate and save, or only save if players have modified map data
I also need to learn how to safely read and write files
Which right now means searching for what "atomic operations" and "mutex" means
