"The Maharil, in 15th Century Mainz, famously lived next door to his own family – preferring to stay nearer his students. He probably wasn't an easy man to be married to. Still, he's described running back from shul straight after Ma'ariv to light Chanukah candles with his family before kiddy bedtime. I think it's kind of gorgeous."
