Estava à procura de um romance para sugerir aos meus alunos como leitura opcional em português. Por uma parte, não queria que tivesse demasiadas camadas, dado que ainda não estão habituados a ler em português e a adaptação à ortografia faz com que se cansem antes. Por outra parte, também não queria uma leitura totalmente superficial. Acho que cumpre os requisitos: o facto de estar ambientado na sociedade de classe média-alta nigeriana é perfeito para quebrar preconceitos, à vez que são confrontados com aspetos culturais próprios desde a perspetiva autóctone. Do mesmo modo, o humor absurdo, aliado ao tema da violência machista no seio da família, brinca com as nossas emoções de maneira brilhante.
