How AI assistance impacts the formation of coding skills

Anthropic is an AI safety and research company that's working to build reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems.

@leaf Not quite, but I did have some meetings this year that went "Well, it might be possible to have some pre-alpha code ready in a few months" => "So, we can have it fully tested and in production at the end of next month, right?"
@leaf I suspect this gets followed with "We're not satisfied with your estimate, reduce it."
@siriusfox I found some local art with a similar vibe to the quilt show you went to:
Car driver: "They really should have closed this street .... I'm a local"
Then they continued to slowly drive into a street packed with hundreds of people. 🤔
@leaf For engineers in general, trying to figure out the specialization track (while dodging industry trend shifts) and identifying the right scale of a company is such a mess (you really don't know what you're signing up for until you've been there for a while).
100% agree with the advice.

Interesting times we find ourselves in.

@yantor3d Presumably the connector which you would often plug/unplug would then need to be rated for higher voltages (complicated by the fact it needs to be weather resistant and robust to physical pullout). Building it into/onto the frame means long term exposure to the elements (UV/rain/humidity) as well. There's also the fact that bikes are metal and thus it's going to be a higher risk that the frame isn't grounded vs a low voltage system. etc etc etc
@yantor3d I expect the answer is mains circuitry means more certifications/risks, and since bikes are weight/volume optimized, why carry something around when you could leave it where the bike is normally parked?
@leaf Networking continues to be impossible to understand. My guess might be that it's some real people, but they're using LLMs to generate cold open messages since it's really quite the awkward process to open a channel of communication.
