Dear @volla, @murena, and whoever else is behind the Unified Attestation initiative - why can't you support pinning-based attestation instead of your anti-competitive stance? Oh wait... I already answered my own question. Shame on you for claiming "freedom" in your marketing. You are definitely not about our freedom!

If apps are required to verify the hardware, operating system and their app for regulatory reasons they should use an approach supporting arbitrary roots of trust and operating systems. Android already has a standard hardware attestation system usable for this. Android's documentation and sample libraries are biased towards Google by using them as the only valid root of trust and the API is biased towards stock operating systems but it's better than a centralized API. https://infosec.exchange/@rene_mobile/116286110700616525

GrapheneOS Mastodon

RE: https://fsoc.lol/2026/01/26/looking-for-self-hosting-companions/

Still figuring out the best way to interact with the #fediverse. I think at the moment and the way #mastodon integrates with #wordpress it's best to primarily use the infosec.exchange account and limit @site to community / website updates.

Anybody else on their #selfhosting journey? Or interested in following along?

I'm really interested in your opinion @GrapheneOS - What do you think of duress PIN that behaves exactly the same but only wipes the private space + disables the private space setting? In my mind it would provide plausible deniability compared to an obvious full wipe. Or is that thought too naive and not realistic in the real world?

@GrapheneOS ...sorry I was not quick enough with my reply.

I hate to see the constant attacks on the project. Some state sponsored, malicious, some who are not knowledgeable enough to understand that they are misrepresenting the project, some that care about micro aspects that don't even scratch the surface, others making statements for "all" that are only their own opinion really, and so much more noise.

Please know that you are seen and I hope people will realize that there is not a single alternative at the moment that is even close in terms of security and privacy.

I assume it can get exhausting quickly for a small team. My heart goes out to you. Thank you for your work!

WordPress Federation: Recap of 2025

With 2025 behind us, this post looks back at the roadmap we set out last year, what we worked on, and what shipped along the way. It reviews progress across core areas like moderation, following, and the experimental Reader, and highlights additional work that emerged throughout the year as we look ahead to 2026.

@pfefferle Impressive how far the #wordpress ActivityPub plugin has come.

Love the content blocks.

If I understand correctly every single reply would have to be made through a dedicated reply block currently?

Am I correct to assume one day it's gonna be an (almost) full-fledged Mastodon client where I can interact and toot in the name of the site?

Kudos to everyone involved! Thank you.
