I honestly put some hope in such lawsuits: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2023/sep/17/california-sues-oil-companies-claiming-they-downplayed-the-risk-of-fossil-fuels
Things could turn around quite quickly if new investments become too risky or complicated, overshadowed by lawsuits, fewer subsidies, more protests and other obstacles. Combine that with reduced support from insurances and it's a beautifully toxic mixture for new fossil projects.
One can still have dreams!
