The problem is not capitalism itself. Actually, capitalism brought wealth to many people, just watch the past century. The problem is proper government. Example: Most of Asia bloomed the past 50 year. Some other countries not so despite aid.
Blaming capitalism is just repeating communist doctrine. I'd rather live poor on the street in NYC than in Moscow 1980, can tell you that much. And that's before you disappear for just opening your mouth. Still happens in China btw.

I like the dude. At least he's a liberal, not a socialist dictator. Even when them stupid journalists are begging for more restrictions.
alcinnzI do think the main blockers to achieving a software freedom future are:
1) Apple/Google's duopoly over our phones. Phones provide all the computing many, but not all, people need.
2) The sheer dominance of DRM in, and beyond, our entertainment. DRM is fundamentally based on the ideology of proprietary software.
Without achieving a significant foothold in the smartphone & entertainment markets, I can't see our movement being anything but niche.
Beyond that, it's just spreading our ideology...
