Mike WI DON'T WANT SELF DRIVING CARS!!!!
✔️ I want boring things like public transit that comes so regularly I don't need to check a schedule.
✔️ I want fast passenger rail so accessible and easy it's preferable to suffering airports.
✔️ I want cities that aren't built around cars-as-default
✔️ I want the country to own it.
And while I am here - #Geography at #universityOfWinnipeg deserves a big #ShoutOut and #ThankYou for never making me feel less-than, and for asking what it can do the enable me to do my job.
#accomodation requests are not people trying to gain the system. They are people working really hard to function in the workplace. They should not be treated with hostility.
Many of the accomodation requests I find myself making are really just... good practice. Why can't you have access to the full application in one pdf or word document? It makes it easier to copy and paste over into the portal.
Today is #InternationalDayofPersonsWithDisabilities. Let's take a hot minute to think about what a #BarrierFree #Winnipeg might look like. #sidewalkClearing b4 roads. Not having to use a #FreightElevator to enter a bar. Not having to think about how to enter a bar. Or a condo. #HavingAccessToPublicTransportation on the same schedule as everyone else. #LetsDream and then make it #Reality
@WinnipegLaur mostly for wine or cheese tours. The Eastern townships of Quebec and Ontario are filled with pockets of goodness.
@WinnipegLaur I went to Three Pines (Knowlton) too. This summer. There was a lovely path in the woods with bird houses.
If your presentation is called #Equity and #Inclusion #Engagement (Well, Inclusive and Equitable Engagement- but I think the other words are more common hashtags) I expect to hear about what you are doing to engage #EquityDeserving person & groups, before, and in addition to your #HardToReach stakeholders.
