As part of the European project “Fairness and Intersectional Non-Discrimination in Human Recommendation (FINDHR)” (www.findhr.eu), which is funded under EU framework program Horizon Europe under Grant Agreement No. 101070212, we are pleased to invite you to attend the Online Policy Roundtable for regulating AI uses in recruitment to prevent discrimination organized by PRAKSIS and Horizon Europe Project FINDHR, with contributions from UPF, Radboud University, WIDE+ and AlgorithmWatch CH. The FINDHR project, led by Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) in Barcelona in partnership with 10 Universities, companies and Civil Society organisations facilitates the prevention, detection, and management of discrimination in algorithmic hiring and closely related areas involving human recommendation. This Online Policy Roundtable brings together key stakeholders to discuss how AI can be regulated in recruitment to prevent algorithmic discrimination. The discussion will include: A brief presentation of the project Fairness and Intersectional Non-Discrimination in Human Recommendation (FINDHR), highlighting important results such as expert reports (https://findhr.eu/findhr-expert-reports/) Presentation on the main legal issues Results of Participatory Action Research (PAR) sessions Three Toolkits for Policymakers, Software Developers and Human Resources Professionals (https://findhr.eu/toolkits/). At the center of the roundtable discussion will be the Toolkit’s 10 key recommendations, with a focus on Point #4: "Algorithmic discrimination in hiring is real – and significantly affects real people." The event will bring together human resource managers, software developers, policymakers, oversight bodies, civil society organisations, and jobseekers in a space for interdisciplinary dialogue. 👉 Throughout the day, participants will be introduced to the FINDHR toolkits, join panel discussions with leading European experts, and explore technical, legal, and social strategies to build a more fair and responsible hiring process. 🔑 Key topics on the agenda: - Mitigation strategies for technical, pre-existing, and emerging biases in AI-driven recruitment. - Innovation in software design and its alignment with human resource management. - Current gaps and challenges in regulation, policy, and governance (AI Act, GDPR, anti-discrimination directives). - The role of equality bodies, civil society, and jobseekers in addressing algorithmic discrimination. 👥 Confirmed and to-be-confirmed speakers and moderators include researchers from the FINDHR consortium, European oversight representatives, and civil society organisations. ✅ Participation is free of charge, but registration is required.
