FINALLY added sentry to fedistats, and this is what I woke up to 🤩

Based on feedback from my son (who is a ruthless QA tester), I now added an icon to the tab bar that you can click to get back to the home screen.

It was always visible in desktop mode, but getting back from mobile mode was pretty hidden.

#trumpindictment is trending, and purely from a technical point of view, the correlated tags also look sound :)

This is how it is rendered on fedistats 😅

I guess the reason is that I'm not actually saving all those pictures but linking from my page, and I guess external links aren't liked well... .

Although for me this is still better than keeping a copy of those pictures. Not sure anymore, though...

OK, so memory usage seems more stable as I limited the amount of data I'd pull just to read the opengraph tags... but it seems now I need to deal with encoding issues 🙈
Gotta thank Elon for producing trends on mastodon. So the correlation feature works nicely, but I really need to do something about fetching title and descriptions from calckey sites (among others)…

#fridaydeploy brings you a new feature: hashtags that are correlated. Sometimes it checks out, sometimes it is just correlation :)

Everybody have a great weekend!

I don't think the new trend algorithm is perfect. If you scroll down you see a lot of active hashtags that have gone up a bit, but it looks more like normal fluctuations.

But compare this with mastodon's own trending hashtags list. It's mostly hashtag games. I think that's an improvement (unless you like hashtag games!)

Alright, the new improved trend detection algorithm just went live!

The algorithm is now based on a rank change between the daily posts and the weekly posts. It also filters out weekly recurring trends, and trends that are driven by a small number of accounts.

I'm counting 125 nodes now that block threads.net, up from 83 last Friday. Total sum of registered users on these sites is 750k.

Interestingly, Threads doesn't even implement ActivityPub yet.
