as a fic author, is it weird to reply to comments that are several years old? i feel like i would enjoy getting a reply no matter how long ago i had left a comment, but idk if that's strange to others

@rotten have you tried changing the ao3 domain from .org to .gay in the fanficfare settings? I was having issues with all my ao3 downloads timing out a week or two ago and once I switched domains it was all fixed. @rigormorphis my aging cat takes nuclear poops and doesn't bury them, and the best litter ive found to control the smell is arm & hammer multi cat. it IS clay based and gets dust everywhere when you pour it into the box, but the clumping is great and it doesn't stick to her paws so she doesn't ingest it when she's cleaning
@b @fandom I pretty much always read sexually explicit fics, so there's often romance involved too. The enjoyment I get from fic is primarily from seeing my favourite relationships fleshed out, and the romantic/sexual part is usually what I don't get from canon, so I think that's why I lean toward romance over gen.
@xieliansbignaturals I've been on fedi since 2022, and it was elon buying twitter that made me come here! v thankful that blorbo was here to welcome me with open arms 💞
As for what keeps me around, its that the ethos of fandom on fedi aligns most closely to the kind of community I'd personally like fandom to be? I think it's become more important than ever for there to be modernized spaces on the internet that exist in the same spirit as ao3 or ye olde fan forums - platforms run by fans, for fans. so i maintain a presence not only because i enjoy being here, but because i think it's important to be active in these kinds of small communities.
mastodon also fits me well anyway because i love the follow lock option and having a smaller audience. I really dislike being visible as a fannish person on a mainstream platform, fandom fedi feels a lot more safe and cozy.

It's amazing that the very first fic I clicked on for the Fallout show is still my favourite in the fandom 🥲 I really dig this fic as a character piece, it's one of those fics that's so rich in world building and detail that it altered the way I look at canon and just kind of lives in my brain now.
