i don't particularly want to leave snouts for another instance because what the fuck does that solve?
at the same time, the answer isn't fucking twitter. I don't think its monads, either. As much as i like many of the people there i don't wanna be on an instance where mods are willing to screenshot dunk based on reports (regardless of what the reports are for, this leads to pretty pointless hostility and accomplishes absolutely NOTHING)
tbh all this makes me have much less faith in the fediverse as something that can work
a lot of the people (myself included) who were here when cryptids, bofa, etc seem to have learned absolutely nothing from this
I've seen people try to talk it out here. It rarely goes anywhere. people stay in their preexisting bubbles and learn nothing. people move to new instances completely unwilling to learn the pattern of why all this is happening
i just feel like a lot of the people here just wanna be the Krang T. Nelson or Pixelated Boat of mastodon and keep that kind of behavior up while devolving into increasingly more frequent bubblings up of the racism etc that seems to be endemic on like 90% of instances.
mastodon was made to be a community. that's not how you make a community, unless you know every user on your instance personally (that, imo, is probably the healthiest way forward, but its still easy to miss friends' racism)
