Good morning. Yesterday happened!!

I went to the #zine market and met so many zinesters and saw so much GORGEOUS AS FUCK art and creations!!

I chatted and learned how folks got started in #zines, tools they used, advice they had for newbies.

I traded 15 of my smol “Sharpies, Stickers, and Spray Paint in YYC” for other zines and stickers!! And the host from Wednesday’s zine publishing panel is adding my zine to their Lending Library!!

And and and yesterday, there was like a professional photographer who had a zine with real photos and super quality paper and binding with street art and graffiti.

AND AND AND there were SO MANY PUNKS and queer folks AND AND AND I FOUND MY PEOPLE, Y’ALL 😭😭😭😭

I like graffiti and vandalism that make #queer leftist, radical statements.

This #zine is a small collection of my favourites from Downtown #calgary (mostly downtown! Except the back cover pic which was in a park not-in-downtown but still YYC) between October 2024 - October 2025

There are 15 pictures.

The zine is 1 Letter sized sheet, double-sided, and 16 pages at 2” x 2.5”. The Master Copy is on white paper but the copies I’m distributing are printed on neon.

I’ll have a digital flipbook available and the pdf for folks to download and print from wherever they are 🤘

To share, I think I’ll use #kofi to keep it free and allow for optional tips (put towards postage if folks want it mailed) - but plz educate me!

I went #rockclimbing for the first time ever yesterday. My friend passed the belay test and is certified. Cool!

My first attempt, he had me try the auto-belay. I got up two footholds? Steps? I moved up the wall twice. Got stuck and fatigued. I half-jumped, half-dropped…

Even though I knew the floor was squishy, I didn’t expect it to STILL BE squishy when I landed. I fell backwards. Into a wall and landed spine first on the only fucking trashcan on the floor 🤣

I didn’t cry (only on the inside).

Then he belayed me on an easier section. And what a fucking difference. I went up three (and a half) steps (??). Took a break. Then said fuck it. And got belayed gently down. It was lovely.

My legs were jelly wobblewobble afterwards.

So cool.

Since bringing home bear graham cracker-cookie things… I’ve had the fucking Teddy Bear Picnic #song stuck in my head.

Oh! I’m also working on a smol mini #zine - one sheet of paper, 16 pages, and no binding - to bring to a #ZineParty in a few days.

It’s been hella fun to create.

For all my zines, imma make digital flipbooks, have pdfs available to download, and I will offer to print and mail (all pwyc/by donation/tip to cover any stamps. No-cost/free is also an option).

That’s my goal anyways.
I’m going to an event tomorrow that workshops zine publishing and the future of them.

I went on a photowalk with a local photography group in a wooded park. Someone brought birdseed and the #birds were fearlessly landing on him and eating out of his hand. When he asked if anyone else wanted to try, I said yesss!

I held seeds and experienced absolute joy when they landed on me and ate. I think these are #chickadees?

I reinstalled and restarted #PokemonGo.

I don’t know much about Pokemon, I only played a little of one or two games. And I went to a Pokemon Scarlet & Violet release party at midnight one year (2022) with my bestie! (Pic as proof)

Other than Detective Pikachu, I haven’t seen the shows or movies 🫣

I have so many questions…
- Do people collect only certain types? (Wouldn’t that make battles difficult?)

- How do I learn about my favourite Pokemons in the app? (Without opening another dozen browser tabs)

- There’re cool analog TTRPG character journals, do people do that for their Pokemon’ing too?
