This is completely false. We stand by our reporting

Other people have seen this, but I'm adding more alt text.

Taylor Lorenz demonstrates that no one can trust Twitter's metrics.

She posted from a private account with no followers. Nevertheless, she got "views".

Twitter isn't the only social media company that fakes views. Meta does the same with videos.

The truth is that view counts exist not to give you truthful data, but to incentivize your continued posting.

Don't be fooled by these so-called "view counts"!

For my account at least, Mastodon does these numbers right now but Twitter does not.

Musk and his minions have reinstated the account of one of the nation's most prominent bigots. This is not remotely surprising to anyone who's paying the slightest attention.

I remain surprised, and disappointed, that so many people in the journalism world still choose to use that platform -- knowing that they are supporting people who want to see the U.S. become a right-wing dictatorship.

Journalism has options, but most journalists ignore them.

@w7voa nice!
@dcdeejay @scottmstedman From just lurking it's gotten so bad. Blood pressure instantly rises.
@av @normative you been to Florida?

The Press are noticing that former Twitter developers are migrating to Mastodon.

What should raise eyebrows is: Ivory might be "better than Tweetbot ever could be".

This isn't mere hype.

Tweetbot was rolled out in 2011, when Twitter clients were already constrained by API limitations.

However, with Mastodon, Tapbots isn't constrained whatsoever by a proprietary API.

With open protocols, the sky is the limit in how they can innovate!

Twitter ain't limiting them!

Yahoo is part of the Yahoo family of brands

@billstclair @dcjohnson Asking for a certain amount of money in exchange for a service does not meet the legal definition of extortion. I assume the govt provides you a service?
@nader @waldenecovillage well one thing to consider is the sheer number of people that depend on Military spending. Every enlisted person and their family, base personnel, suppliers, contractors, etc. It's uncomfortable but it's an industry a lot of people depend on. In that regard much of it is not awful spending.
