@stephaniehicks okay you convinced me—my 🧵handle is @LizTChin. i haven’t loved the feed algorithm here (or on twitter…), so here’s to round 3. hack: if you already have a insta account, but want another handle for threads, you can create a new handle under the same account and sign up to threads with that!
really want to join threads, but my insta-handle is a joke and for friends-only

I taught two 8-wk courses this fall @johnshopkinssph and wanted to share the resources (built in #quarto !) in case others starting in #Rstats #DataScience find it useful

@o I like the website verification, as you have. Using emojis that mimic verification systems from other similar sites, especially when any user can add it, seems like it could be exploited... I'm also not a fan that some instances allow it but not others, as it could enable an instance to have more perceived authority over others.
saw someone with a #bluecheckmark on mastodon. does mastodon have an official verification system or are they just emojis? ✔️🔵

The top 10% of users also generate 90% of the content. These superusers not only maintain the birdsite with *free* content, but also get the privilege of paying to do so!

What could go wrong?

@stephaniehicks "Smell my feet!" 😂 so precious
@stephaniehicks Great to see you here too :)
@KLdivergence I still laugh when I hear “toots” #statToots 🦆
@mikarv @geomblog Wow, so the mods of a server can block members of servers from following each other as a way of preventing the communities from moving too close together? Learning new things about the federated setup everyday!
