@gottalaff.bsky.social Seeing more and more cars/ trucks driving around with massive assault rifle decals on them here in Canada. As you say, the normalization of gun culture is growing... and I'm not a fan.
@georgetakei Simply unbelievable (and terrifying) how normalized a message like this has become; from the sitting POTUS or anyone, for that matter.
@HarriettMB @GottaLaff Exactly this. They'll have roped off the area, swept it before he arrives, hired an actor or two to commit some act in plain sight so he can just point and say something tough like "go get 'em boys!" for the camera crew. Just like his stint at the drive-thru window; all set-up and controlled.
@sundogplanets I do wonder what the average person sees/hears about what's happening. If you're just reading CNN or CBC, and not on any social media -- or, the algorithm is just too busy flooding you with "fun" content instead -- does it seem like the panic it really is? The sane-washing of what is happening continues to amaze me; and, not in a good way.

@rozodru @SecurityWriter This has been my feeling on it all; combined with the access to so many options now, I see such an "if it doesn't work the first time, or the way I want it to/think it should, try another web app" -approach to things. There is nothing wrong with a learning curve on new products or services!

Not to mention that when the app you have to use for work gets "improved" one random night, and now stuff fails, or features are changed... I don't need new updates rolled out weekly

@Wileymiller Can't wait to see James Gunn's / DC's reaction to this... and, wasn't the right-wing media trashing this film a few days ago because it was "a story about an illegal alien doing good"?
@clive Pretty sure this was literally the plot of the season 1 episode of the X-Files, "Ice"... it didn't end well.
@GottaLaff CNN manages to quote the content of this video; but, glosses right over the whole "ownership" thing, instead providing a response from a WH staffer about how POTUS is "a tireless advocate" for farmers. Incredible misdirection... [ https://www.cnn.com/2025/07/03/politics/trump-migrant-farmworkers-deportations ]
White House tries to calm industry worries over migrant workers amid aggressive deportation campaign

Senior Trump officials and the president himself have grappled with the consequences of their immigration crackdown against a key portion of the workforce: migrant workers.

@siracusa Literally every sentence in that paragraph ends with "he said"; so, beyond the questionable use of the phrase "a new one like Python", can we assume that it's either an AI -written article or one written by a child?
@SRDas @mjj @JMarkOckerbloom You said it yourself: they're shameless in their pursuit of whatever self-interest they have. This sort of blatant, low-effort result is all it needs to be to justify whatever lies they want to push today. It can be called out, but they still have the means (read: corruption at all levels) to push it forward.
