The Dance
This sculpture was created by James K. Hill of Salisbury, Maryland and commissioned by the Bel Air Cultural Arts Commission in 2008.
"The Door"
The open door symbolizes the heritage of religious freedom granted to colonial citizens of Maryland by Cecil Calvert, the second Lord Baltimore in 1657. His belief in such freedom inspired Maryland to become the first colony to create a separation of church and state, greatly influencing the U.S. Constitution and attracting many residents seeking a safe environment in which to practice their faith.
