ok nerds. i cannot get any AI tool* to convert this image of a table to a CSV that contains information that is mostly accurate. can you?
*let us agree that we can get a non-AI tool to do this, but for this test we are limited to AI tools.

i asked anthropic’s “claude” to be what amounts to a recommendation engine (thanks to @harper for the prompt) and tell me the “best of” for each subsequent prompt i gave it.
AI is Fun!™
this is disappointing.
1. stop counting cases ✅
2. declare success because suddenly case counts are low (definitely has nothing to do with number 1) ✅
3. change policies based on success ✅
4. wonder how we suddenly have a covid spike out of nowhere 🔲
to be clear, i’m just as annoyed about wearing masks as the next person, but i can’t do the mental gymnastics required in order to see this as a “good” thing, because we know who this is going to negatively impact most.
the #sinzaereed story is horrifying and stinks of corruption.
a 36 year old man, who could not legally own a gun because of a prior domestic violence case, gets out of his truck and shoots a 13 year old in the back, killing him then gets back in his truck and drives away. there are multiple witnesses.
he is arrested and then the charges are dropped by the prosecutor.
2 months later, the shooter is still a free man, despite the multiple crimes committed.
i have read a lot of dystopian stuff of late and this is right up there with some of the most alarming. our laws need to catch up with our tech ASAP.
i guess i could’ve tagged this #blackmastodon since (afaik) it’s mostly Black elders that do this.
(the thought was prompted by me folding hundreds of programs for my dad’s funeral that are going to be sent to many of the aforementioned Black elders across multiple states.)
