Observations from a late-stage PhD candidate. I wrote a paper I’m really proud of for a Jan 15 ddl. It was my first chance to draw together all these disparate communities and lines of thinking I’ve been happily yelling about in seminars etc for the last year.
And now it’s such a bummer I just have to….. wait until it maybe gets accepted to talk about it publicly! :<
Chris TrottierThere's going to be a massive land grab of all these big instances. There will be lots of merging and acquiring too.
My advice is that you all become *very* aware of who owns your instance and why.
Get to know your admins—make sure their values align with your own.
If you don't want to put your social media life in the hands of strangers, then self-host your own instance.
