The only explanation for the Democratic "leadership's" perpetually weak behavior in opposing Republicans is this: the Democratic Party doesn't currently exist to oppose Republicans. It exists to oppose any leftist alternative from taking policy control. And it's *very* competent at doing that.

The US is all the way into right-wing authoritarianism. If you compare US media to international, it’s clearly just Emperor’s New Clothes 24/7/365, even when you think it’s being critical of Trump. It’s not. There’s no substantive criticism whatsoever of Trump’s madness in US media. It’s forbidden.

A couple decades ago, I wrote a short paper that described how the basic approaches of cryptography and computer security lead to an efficient and practical privilege escalation attack against master-keyed mechanical locks, which I published in IEEE Security and Privacy (a nerdy computing technical journal).
